The time-old question: can Batman beat Superman? what would happen if the Dark Knight faced off against the Man of Steel? If you want the short answer, then it’s yes. The Caped Crusader can take on the Man of Steel, but it is a bit more complicated than that. Let’s get into it.
So you might not know but these two have faced off against each other on a few occasions and it typically goes the way you would expect. The truth is given the nature of their relationship Batman has found himself equipped with advantages he otherwise wouldn’t have.
THE SUPERMAN DILEMMA
The truth is Superman has a couple of weaknesses, and though Kryptonite is a crippling one I’m not talking about it. His noble heart is something that his opponents typically exploit and Batman is no different. That said, Superman typically holds back in most engagements, even saying so in the Justice League unlimited series where he confesses he feels like he is living in a world made of cardboard. As a result he rarely gives his 100 in a fight.
THE KRYPTONITE ISSUE
Another thing to consider is the existence of Kryptonite. It has certainly proven to be a bane (pun intended), as far as Superman is involved. When asking the question; “can batman beat superman?” one would be hardpressed to answer without bringing up kryptonite.
Typically when Kryptonite is involved it is never good for Superman and it has led to him conceding a good number of fights. That said it is not always a done deal. Superman has been shown to be resilient, even in situations where he is completely depowered like in instances where he finds himself under a red sun he still proves to be able to hold his own.
SO CAN BATMAN BEAT SUPERMAN?
The simple answer is yes, and in most fights batman typically ends up coming up on top, but the keyword here is can so we at drift here feel it is important to emphasize that the fight could go either way, we have seen instances where Batman struggles, especially when there is no kryptonite involved. It is typically a violation in those situations and sometimes even when it is involved.
For instance when they first meet in the Justice League War animated movie, Superman proceeds to humiliate Batman and Green Lantern with Lantern remarking “he’s going to kill us.”. So it is not a certain thing, the fight could go either way depending on what the circumstances are but could Batman beat Superman, the answer is most certainly a yes!
